In July 1994, six-year-old Janieri Jacobs was found dead in a ditch. Margo still remembers how the ominous news about her friend spread through Wakarusa like wildfire. The case fell apart. Twenty-five years later, Margo, who has grown up and become a reporter, returns to Wakarusa to care for her sick uncle. But something terrible happens - five-year-old Natalie Clark disappears from a crowded playground. It happened again... All her life, Margo believed that she could be in Genieri's place, so she decides to find Natalie and put an end to this story. But the more details the journalist finds out, the more uncomfortable questions she voices, the stronger the townspeople resist her. Do they not want the crimes to be exposed? And are Natalie's kidnapper and Genieri's killer really the same person?
