In 2021, Professor Włodzimierz Nykiel celebrated his seventieth birthday, prompting a tribute to his extensive scientific and academic contributions. The Editors, long-term associates from the Tax Law Department at the University of Lodz, the Centre of Tax Documentation and Studies, and the Foundation Centre, express their gratitude for his impactful career. Professor Nykiel's international collaborations have significantly enhanced the reputation of the Lodz school of tax law. Consequently, the book is divided into two volumes: the first features esteemed Polish scholars and practitioners in tax and financial law, while the second includes contributions from international colleagues. The publication process unfolded during turbulent times, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, which delayed its completion past the Professor's birthday. Notably, his seventieth birthday also marked the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Centre he founded and the fiftieth anniversary of his scientific career. Although some contributions may have lost their immediacy, the book, finalized for printing in 2023, aims to inspire readers with insights tied to these significant milestones in Professor Nykiel's life.
