Más información sobre el libro

Institutions are increasingly recognizing their roles in settler colonialism and anti-Black racism, leading many racialized workers to develop equity plans for their departments. This collection acknowledges the dual nature of this work as both survival and burden for Black, Indigenous, and racialized peoples. It highlights existing efforts and envisions what equity can look like through a decolonial lens, both now and in the future. Key questions arise: What enables this work? How do we care for ourselves and each other? What does solidarity or allyship entail in decolonial equity efforts? It also examines the barriers to shifting equity discourse, policy, and practice, while exploring strategies to create environments that embody decolonial equity. Centering the voices of Indigenous, Black, and other racialized individuals, the collection invites a re-examination of equity work, emphasizing the need to connect it with the historical and contemporary realities of colonialism in Canada and the US. By linking an equity agenda to decolonization, it aims to redefine our shared realities and foster meaningful change.
