A treasure hunt in Edinburgh leads to a search for a villain in the sixth Scottish Bookshop Mystery. However, after the initial meeting of the treasure hunters, several homes in Edinburgh are robbed in a style reminiscent of Shelaigh's old antics. Tension escalates when a man linked to Shelaigh is murdered, and Shelaigh herself mysteriously disappears, suggesting a kidnapping by the villain. As fear spreads across the city, Delaney must unravel the mystery while evading the killer, who seems intent on making her his next victim.
