The study innovatively explores the ultrafast structural and vibrational dynamics of hydrated phospholipids, essential components of cell membranes. Utilizing advanced nonlinear vibrational spectroscopy techniques, particularly femtosecond two-dimensional infrared spectroscopy, the author reveals that interfacial water exhibits minimal fluctuations on a 300 fs timescale, while hydrogen bond lifetimes with phospholipids exceed 10 ps.
