Set in 1385 London, the story follows young King Richard II as he navigates the treacherous landscape of court politics, facing threats from powerful figures like his uncle, John of Gaunt, and Gaunt's mistress, Katherine Swynford. Amidst ominous songs linked to a prophetic manuscript predicting the downfall of kings, Geoffrey Chaucer enlists the help of fellow poet John Gower, a savvy information broker, to locate this dangerous "burnable book" that could destabilize the kingdom.
