Más información sobre el libro
When my mother threw me out of a moving car, I was nine years old. It happened on a Sunday. I know it was a Sunday because we were returning home from church, and every Sunday in my childhood meant church, as we always went to church on Sundays. My mother was—and still is—a very religious woman, a devout Christian. Black people in South Africa, like all indigenous peoples around the world, adopted the religion of their colonizers. By "adopted," I mean they were forced to embrace this religion. The white man was very firm with the indigenous people, telling them, "You must pray to Jesus Christ because Christ will save you." The indigenous people replied, "Well, we need someone to save us—from you—but that's beside the point, so let's give this thing about Christ a try." Trevor Noah
