When Janelle Dimmett was a child in rural Missouri, she would spend hours observing horses and other farm animals and attempting to draw their figures with pencil. Having mastered the form, she now likes to use marker and ink on illustration board for much of her artwork. Nature and wildlife are still favorite subjects-as are cupcakes, Easter eggs, and ice cream sundaes-and the rich, vibrant colors that she favors lend her work a playful tone. She layers detailed pen work over the marker to anchor the vibrancy. The result is a dynamic mix of stillness and energy. The fifty images in this coloring book reflect Dimmett's love of animals and nature but are open to myriad interpretations of their patterns and colors.
