Focusing on the dynamics of norm diffusion and storytelling, this political ethnography investigates how international institutions influence emerging powers like China. Through three years of fieldwork at the UN Development Programme, it explores whether values are converging or diverging and how norms in human rights, rule of law, and development cooperation are translated. The study emphasizes the significance of storytelling in shaping and contesting these norms, illustrating the fluid movement between local and global contexts.
