This study explores how humans form overall assessments of complex sound experiences based on bounded affective episodes. Experiments revealed that people rely on key moments of these episodes for evaluations, but no clear dissociation from immediate experiences was found. Simple cognitive models were insufficient to explain the findings, emphasizing the need for metrics that incorporate both momentary and peak experiences.
