Hermann Westermayer, a former SS officer, lives under the stolen identity of a murdered Jew, Daniel Goldstein. In Israel during the seventies, he faces blackmail over his past. His attempt to silence the threat leads to a traffic accident and imprisonment in Yugoslavia. Years later, he shares his story with a fellow inmate.
