Florio's Italian English Dictionary of 1611

John Florio was a prominent linguist and lexicographer, recognized for his role as a royal language tutor and his influence on Shakespeare. He translated Montaigne into English and authored the Italian-English dictionary A World of Words, first published in 1598. His career flourished under King James I, where he served as a tutor to Prince Henry and Queen Anne of Denmark. Florio expanded his dictionary in 1611, showcasing his dedication to language and education. He lived in London, where he raised three children before his death in 1625.
