Renowned for his vivid scene-setting and engaging plots, he gained popularity in the UK and North America during the 1920s and 1930s. Despite his prolific output, with at least one novel published annually since his debut in 1909, he has fallen into obscurity since his passing in 1941. His spontaneous storytelling style involved rapid writing with minimal revision.
