Aeschylus, recognized as the father of tragedy, is the earliest of the three ancient Greek tragedians whose works are still accessible today, alongside Sophocles and Euripides. His contributions form the foundation of our understanding of the genre, with only seven out of an estimated seventy to ninety plays surviving.
