Howard Pyle, an influential American illustrator and writer, is renowned for his captivating stories aimed at young readers, particularly in medieval settings. His classic work, The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood, has remained popular since its release in 1883. Pyle also created a four-volume set on King Arthur and penned the original tale Otto of the Silver Hand. As a pioneer in art education, he founded the Brandywine School and contributed illustrations to notable periodicals.
