Exploring the murals at Ouahigouya prison, this study employs semiotic analysis to uncover the deeper meanings behind these artistic expressions. It examines the visual syntax of shapes, colors, and textures, while also investigating the relationship between iconic signifiers and their referents. Additionally, the work draws on narrative theory to highlight the storytelling aspects inherent in mural paintings, utilizing concepts such as narrative syntax and actantial schema to reveal the eloquence and complexity of the images.
