Late Man

The protagonist, Jay Emerson, emerges from a mental institution into a drastically altered 1960s world, reminiscent of Rip Van Winkle. He grapples with the loss of his countercultural ideals as he encounters a society transformed by superficiality and consumerism, where once-meaningful connections have dissolved. The shift from protest songs to disco and the rise of mundane lifestyles highlight his disorientation and longing for the past, particularly concerning the fate of his former girlfriend.
