My Father In The Night

Set in 1950s San Francisco, the story follows Pearse, an Irish-Catholic boy navigating the challenges of adolescence. While serving at church and enjoying outings with his grandfather, a family tragedy prompts him to question his faith and upbringing. He finds himself captivated by the beatnik culture, exploring a vibrant world of spontaneity at Caffe Trieste, where he indulges in bitter espresso and revolutionary poetry, defying his parents' wishes. This journey leads him to confront his beliefs and embrace a new identity.
