Focusing on the hymns sung by monks and canons in pre-Norman Conquest England, this study offers a critical edition that compiles textual evidence, including previously unpublished material from extant manuscripts. The core of the edition is based on the eleventh-century 'Durham Hymnal,' featuring an Old English interlinear gloss. It includes an introduction and commentary detailing manuscript descriptions, sources, liturgical contexts, musical aspects, and an analysis of the Old English gloss, accompanied by modern English translations of the Latin hymns.
