Girls of India

Set in 3rd century BCE Pataliputra, India, the story follows twelve-year-old Madhura, a palace maid and companion to Princess Sanghamitra. Bored with her life, she longs for adventure like her brother Kartik, a trader. When she joins him on a caravan journey to Ujjaini, excitement ensues as mysterious events unfold, including a secretive encounter with a fat man bearing gold and a stop to meet a Buddhist monk. Madhura is determined to uncover Kartik's hidden motives, leading her into a captivating adventure that reveals the complexities of her world.
