Focusing on the rhetorical and imaginative strategies of early modern England, Marotti explores how the Catholic minority and Protestant majority defined their identities amid religious conflict. He examines neglected Catholic writings and anti-Catholic discourse from 1580 to the 1688 Glorious Revolution. Through thematically focused essays, he addresses topics such as print culture, the portrayal of recusant women, martyrdom narratives, and the construction of Protestant identity. This study enhances our understanding of the enduring cultural dynamics of Catholicism and anti-Catholicism.
