Signifyin(g) as Black Translation in Postcolonial Experience

Exploring the concept of Signifyin(g) in both literary and translation contexts, this book delves into intertextual conversations among African American literature, focusing on works by Alice Walker, Toni Morrison, and Lorraine Hansberry. The first two articles examine the literary dimensions of Gates's theory through the author's own writings and those of these prominent authors. The latter articles extend Signifyin(g) to translation studies, analyzing its role in translating Morrison's "Beloved" and Walker's "Everyday Use" into Brazilian Portuguese.
