The Grammar of Genes

Focusing on the evolution of language, this study argues that universal properties of linguistic codes emerged from genetic codes through duplication, which is notably more prevalent in the human genome. It suggests that language evolution is a gradual process marked by a significant divergence occurring 6 million years ago. The book explores striking similarities between genetic and linguistic codes and seeks to reconcile generative grammar with cognitive semiotics, presenting both as forms of embodiment.
