This study analyzes the performance of jointly-owned and wholly-owned affiliates of Dutch MNEs from 1995 to 2003, revealing no significant performance differences between the two types. It highlights that exits primarily occur voluntarily, with strategic restructuring driving WOS exits and fierce competition influencing JV exits. Additionally, the research indicates that MNE parents tend to buy out local partners more frequently in JVs where they hold majority ownership compared to those with minority stakes.
