Haydn's D major cello concerto, composed in 1783 for Antonin Kraft, showcases a more relaxed style compared to his earlier work. Initially questioned in authenticity, it was validated by the discovery of the composer's manuscript in 1951. This concerto is notably more challenging for cellists than Haydn's earlier C major concerto.
