Electronic and structural modulation of 1D carbon nanostructure

The work focuses on the innovative control of nitrogen doping in hexagonal sp2-carbon networks, specifically carbon nanotubes, to enhance their electronic properties and morphology. It addresses the challenge of creating large-scale CNx-based display devices on flexible surfaces. The introduction of N-functionalities allows for effective biochemical sensing without precious metal catalysts, potentially lowering costs and improving performance compared to traditional electrodes. Additionally, N-doped carbon nanotubes may facilitate the formation of heterojunctions for efficient renewable energy applications, such as generating hydrogen through photochemical processes.
