Western Jewry and the Zionist Project, 1914 1933

Focusing on the evolution of Western Zionism from World War I to the rise of Hitler, this study highlights how the movement fostered a renewed Jewish identity while many members remained committed to their current nations. It examines the tension between growing Zionist consciousness and the challenges of institutional support, particularly the reliance on fundraising. Despite Zionism's increasing integration into secular Jewish identity, it struggled to effectively respond to the looming crises faced by Jewish communities, raising doubts even among its key proponents.
