It is with the combined help of some sympathetic tourism promoters from out-of-state and some rustic 'Cracker' characters that certain family problems are eventually resolved and some bitter people find true love. In the span of the author's 80-plus years, he has seen some of those early times in Florida life that are covered in this story and has known such types of characters as those introduced in the book. For this is a land in which different types of people can come together and live together as many have beautifully done in the author's home state of Florida.
