Prof. Dr. med. Erwin-Josef Speckmann studied and worked as an assistant in Münster, achieving his Habilitation in 1969. He became a professor at the Physiological Institute in 1973 and served as dean from 1978 to 1981. In 1986, he took over the chair of physiology at the University of Münster and has been a lecturer at the Kunstakademie Münster. His research focuses on brain and epilepsy studies, and he has organized related congresses. He was named Teacher of the Year at the University of Münster in 1991, 1993, and 1997, and has authored and edited internationally recognized journals. Prof. Dr. med. Jürgen Hescheler studied and worked at the University of Saarland, earning his Habilitation in 1988. He has been a professor and managing director at the Institute of Neurophysiology at the University of Cologne since 1994. He has held visiting professorships in the USA and China and has chaired the German Society for Stem Cell Research since 2005. His research centers on stem cell research, signal transduction, and electrophysiology, with contributions to prestigious journals like Nature and Science. Prof. Dr. med. Rüdiger Köhling studied in Münster and was a Wellcome Fellow at McGill University and the University of Birmingham. After his Habilitation in 1998, he led a research group in experimental epilepsy at the University of Bonn before becoming a professor and director at the University of Rostock in 2004.
