A combat force is assigned the mission to capture a Japanese officer and certain biological resesrch records. One B-29 bomber, stripped of heavy armament, transports the force and its equipment on an 1800 mile flight from Okinawa to Manchuria, but is demolished on landing. The Japanese officer is captured but brags of a plan to send toxin loaded balloons to the USA after the surrender is signed. The mission now becomes a find and destroy operation to eliminate the launch site, code named MARUTA, in the six days before the balloons are ready for release.
