Barbara Downie was born and raised in Jamaica, West Indies. Although she was born and left in a poor environment by her mother; eventually she was taken by her father to live with him and his new bride. Her living status had improved, but when it came to her self-esteem, she was still dirt poor. It was in fighting the attacks on her life that caused her to blossom into a confident and bold individual. Not for the sake of others but for the love of the God she knew and came to know even better.
