Más información sobre el libro

While on a crowded beach in Spain, I received the manuscript of Rima’s book, which reflects her pioneering work in water labor and birth. In the 1970s, we introduced an inflatable paddling pool in our maternity unit, paving the way for hospital birthing pools. Rima Star was among the first two women in the U.S. to give birth in water in 1980. Since then, she has facilitated hundreds of water births, gathering her Water Birth Wisdom, which she shares in this enchanting book. Rima explores the profound connections between humans and water, offering insights relevant to both parents and babies. Rima Star, recognized as the “mother of water birth” in the U.S., is also the author of The Healing Power of Birth and a skilled rebirther/breath therapist trained by Leonard Orr. One of the first breath therapists in the U.S., she remains active in her practice. For years, she taught a 250-hour program in birth journey facilitation at the Star Institute, preparing students to support families from pre-conception to post-birth bonding. Her approach integrates massage, breath work, and therapeutic techniques into the doula's toolkit, training hundreds of birth facilitators in her methods.
