This book contains a collection of diplomatic letters and reports that detail exchanges between the ancient Egyptian administration and its agents in Syria and Canaan during the Late Bronze Age. The letters for the most part take the form of complaints about or requests for supplies of food, drink, or other substances and they illuminate the complexity of an empire that regarded its subject territories variously as allies, clients and foes.
