In WHAT THEY WANTED, Victor Henry's narrative poems offer a journey into a war he was drafted to fight, in a strange country for political reasons he knew nothing about. Once there he discovers the surrealistic qualities of war, its undercurrents, and how American GIs were really fighting for each other.
