It is intended to reveal the many facets of Hughes' colorful, tragic, complex, successful, productive, and spiritual life from the perspective of people who knew him best-his family, his friends and his co-workers. It's also meant to give him well-deserved credit for the huge impact he made on the lives of thousands of alcoholics and other people in this country. During research for this wook, the authors discovered many hours of recordings made by the senator in anticipation of his writing a second book. What makes this book unique is the inclusion of many of those recordings, in his own words.
