Book Extract; INTRODUCTIONThe first four sections of this handbook provide guidance on research design andappropriate ways of collecting evidence for your project. Section 1 introduces you tothe various research traditions in education and discusses some factors that need to betaken into account when designing practitioner research. Section 2 is aboutdocumentary analysis and the use of written documents as evidence. Section 3contains advice about interviewing techniques and questionnaire design. Section 4examines how you can collect evidence for your project by watching and recordingwhat people do and say. It offers advice on observation, recording and analysingclassroom talk, and using children's work as a source of evidence.
