Volume 1 deals with principles and basic properties of the optical microscope, Volume 2 is devoted to specialized methods of light microscopy, and Volume 3 contains quantitative and measuring techniques used in more advanced microscopical studies. All these volumes are primarily addressed to professional microscopists, but certain parts of the book, especially chapters free from higher mathematics, can also be read by research workers less advanced in light microscopy or even by beginners in the field of microscopical studies.
