Más información sobre el libro

In recent years, concerns about preserving world peace have grown alongside a significant increase in international sporting activities, which offer opportunities to enhance global understanding and peace. This backdrop led to the convening of a Congress on Sport and International Understanding, inspired by discussions from the 1975 Helsinki Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe. Held at Finlandia Hall, the Congress was organized by the International Council of Sport and Physical Education (ICSPE) and Finnish organizations, including the Finnish Society for Research in Sport and Physical Education, the Finnish Central Sport Federation, and the Workers' Sport Federation. The Congress aimed to analyze the role of sport in fostering international understanding and to encourage research in this area. It also provided a platform for researchers and sports practitioners to exchange ideas on relevant themes. Key questions addressed included the forms of international cooperation in contemporary competitive and top-level sports, as well as sports for all and other physical culture initiatives, along with their historical context and future prospects.
