This standard describes transit-time ultrasonic flowmeters for water supply service application in pipes running full. An ultrasonic flowmeter is a meter that uses acoustic energy signals to measure liquid velocity. There are currently two distinct types of ultrasonic flowmeters available: Doppler-effect and transit-time. The Doppler-effect meter is used exclusively for liquids containing solid particles or gases, and the transit-time flowmeter is used in a wide variety of applications in the water industry.

This standard covers the various types and classes of cold water fire service type meters in sizes 3 in. (80 mm) through 10 in. (250 mm) and the materials and workmanship used in their fabrication. A fire-service meter shall consist of one of the following: A combination of (1) a mainline meter of the turbine type (Class II), either Underwriters Laboratories listed or Factory Mutual Research approved; (2) either a UL-listed or an FM-approved fire-service strainer; (3) a bypass meter of the appropriate size for measuring low flow rates; and (4) an automatic valve for diverting flow rates other than fire demand through the bypass meter. A combination of (1) a mainline meter of the turbine type (Class II), either UL listed or FM approved; and (2) either a UL-listed or an FM-approved fire-service strainer. Major revisions to this edition of C703 include the following: Type I devices, proportional fire-service meters with check valve, are no longer addressed in this standard Information is provided on lead content criteria and recent federal legislation revising the definition of "lead free" in the Safe Drinking Water Act. The definition of manufacturer has been changed. The materials have been updated in response to legislation revising the definition of "lead free" in the Safe Drinking Water Act. The section on registers has been updated to include requirements for electronic display registers.

Awwa C515-20 Reduced-Wall, Resilient-Seated Gate Valves for Water Supply Service
- 33 páginas

The purpose of this standard is to provide the minimum requirements for reduced-wall, resilient-seated gate valves for water supply service, including application, materials, design, testing, inspection, rejection, marking, and shipping. This standard can be referenced in specifications for purchasing and receiving reduced-wall, resilient-seated gate valves for water supply service. The stipulations of this standard apply when this document has been referenced and then only to reduced-wall, resilient-seated gate valves for water supply service. The valves encompassed by this standard require considerations for compatibility with the material being conveyed from both chemical and physical perspectives. Wastewater implies a lack of control over its chemical and physical composition. Valves in compliance with this standard may be suitable for wastewater applications; however, compliance does not ensure manufacturer approval of a specific valve in wastewater applications. Suitability for a specific valve should be determined by analyzing a particular wastewater application in conjunction with the manufacturer.
