The PEERS program facilitates international exchanges tailored for teacher training institutions aiming to enhance internationalization by integrating training, research, and practice. It involves collaborative Research and Innovation (R&I) projects throughout the academic year, where international groups of professors and students work together remotely and during two one-week placements. For students, the program fosters competencies in distance collaboration using Information and Communication Technology (ICT), managing intercultural groups, and enhancing activities through reflective thinking and research. For professors, it aims to strengthen the connection between research and training, improve skills in managing international projects, and create opportunities for international publications. This collective work provides an overview of the issues, case studies, and perspectives of the program. The first section addresses the foundations and features of PEERS projects within the context of globalization. The second section presents case studies focused on innovation and cooperation in the developing world. The third section discusses results from PEERS projects that have led to practical educational research and innovations in teaching design. The conclusion summarizes the key points from all sections, highlighting the integration of research and training in the internationalization of teacher education through the PEERS
