The Bridge of San Luis Rey

Set against the backdrop of a tragic event in 1714 Peru, the narrative follows Brother Juniper, a Franciscan friar who witnesses the collapse of an ancient Inca rope bridge. Determined to understand the divine significance of the incident, he embarks on a six-year quest to interview those connected to the five victims. His goal is to compile evidence that illustrates how each person's life and death are part of a greater divine plan, exploring themes of faith, providence, and the search for meaning in suffering.
