The Man Who Was Thursday

Set in Edwardian-era London, the story follows Gabriel Syme, who is enlisted in a covert anti-anarchist police unit. His encounter with Lucian Gregory, a passionate anarchist poet, sparks a heated debate on the nature of poetry and revolution. While Gregory champions revolt as the essence of poetic expression, Syme counters with the notion that law embodies true poetry, even likening it to the London Underground's timetable. This clash of ideals leads Gregory to challenge Syme further by introducing him to the underground anarchist scene.
