SOON A MAJOR NETFLIX SERIES - from director Shawn Levy, starring Louis Hofmann, Lars Eidinger, and Marion Bailey, with Hugh Laurie and Mark Ruffalo, and introducing Aria Mia Loberti. WINNER OF THE 2015 PULITZER PRIZE FOR FICTION, NATIONAL BOOK AWARD FINALIST, NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER, WINNER OF THE CARNEGIE MEDAL FOR FICTION. This stunningly ambitious novel follows a blind French girl and a German boy whose lives intersect in occupied France during World War II. Marie-Laure, blind since six, learns to navigate her Paris neighborhood through a miniature model crafted by her father. When the Nazis invade, they flee with a dangerous secret. Meanwhile, Werner, a German orphan, faces a grim future in a mine until his engineering talent earns him a place at a brutal military academy, where his escape from obscurity comes at a high cost. In a distant walled city, an old man explores new worlds from within his home, even as danger looms. Doerr’s blend of imagination and keen observation creates an electric narrative. As war engulfs Europe and lives unpredictably intertwine, this work serves as a captivating elegy for innocence. Critics hail it as 'sublime,' 'magnificent,' and 'a masterpiece.'
