The Golden Scarecrow

Set in the late 19th century, the narrative follows young Hugh Seymour, a frail and overlooked child sent from Ceylon to England for education. During his holidays, he stays with various families, often feeling insignificant among other children. The story centers on his experiences while living with Rev. William Lasher's family during the Christmas seasons of 1890 and 1891.
